St. John’s Gets Classy!
You may have noticed some new additions to the traditional artwork that has graced our walls for many years, many of which are original works by the late Ann Bird, longtime member and local artist.
Recently Bruce Wilson donated an extensive collection of beautiful Biblically themed art by a family friend, Edie Harper. Bruce’s parents were dear friends of Edie and her husband, Charlie, also a West Virginia native and artist himself. Thank you, Bruce, for this beautiful collection, many of which can be seen in room 109.
While we’re on the subject of art take a look at the new skylights in the first-floor hall outside the sacristy and in the library. Thanks to Elizabeth for her agility and persistence in cleaning the tops and to Elizabeth and Mary Fitzgerald for painting the interior of the cavity a pretty sky blue. They really pop!
A new message greets us as we enter the administrative area through the Quarrier Street entrance. Thank you, Chris+ and Mary Jo, for the creative addition. It’s a surprise - go see!
New carpeting for the office suite, the women’s robing room and the second floor hallways is on its way - hopefully by the end of October.
It’s been wonderful to see how these subtle and not-so-subtle additions complement and enhance our beautiful old church.
