St. John’s Episcopal Church has been in the Kanawha Valley for almost two centuries.
Over that time our location, buildings, and the individuals who comprise our congregation have changed. We are grateful to those who came before us and had the foresight, commitment, and dedication to construct and leave for us the beautiful building and windows where we gather to worship.
As a congregation, we remain dedicated to continuing to worship and serve God. How we serve God keeps evolving as the needs of our community and the world continue to change. You can find information about how St. John’s has served God in the past in the History section of this website, and you can see how we are engaged in service now on our Ministries page.
We seek to stay open to God’s guidance in continued worship and service. We are a diverse community, with differing needs and ideas, but holding to our mission statement below. More than anything, we are a faith family that is learning as we go. We invite you to come join us!
Mission Statement
We reach out to the world in Christ’s name in the hope that all might find a home in God’s healing love.
We are a reconciling, affirming and inclusive Christian community. We welcome individuals and families to worship without regard to race, ethnicity, culture, gender identity, economic condition, physical or mental ability or sexual orientation. We believe God delights in the diversity of creation and hope you will find a home here with us.
