The Blessing of the Animals

The Blessing of the Animals is celebrated on October 4, the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi. He is the patron of the environment and animals because he loved all creatures, and allegedly preached to the birds. Please bring your pets and join us in the garden at 5:30pm on October 4th for this simple service. We’ll be collecting bagged dog and cat food, treats and litter to benefit the Kanawha Charleston Humane Society. If your pet doesn’t travel or interact well with others, please bring a photo or a baggy of their food for blessing. Please refer questions to Chris+.

The folks who do the communications heavy lifting at St. John’s decided to feature their own pets below. Aren’t they the cutest?
