Greetings from the Discernment Committee.
We would like to send a big “thank you” to everyone who offered their input to our parish survey. Now that the survey has closed, you may be wondering what will come of the results of your feedback. In the spirit of transparency, we wanted to provide you with some answers to this question.
First, at the Ministry Fair on September 10th, we will be sharing a draft version of the parish profile. As I shared in the last edition of The Interchange, this is the tool we will use to attract our next Rector to St. John’s. Some of the information collected through the surveys will inform how we present certain data, and what data is presented, such parish demographics. And speaking of the Ministry Fair, if you indicated that you would be interested in joining a ministry at St. John’s, that would be a great time to learn more! (If you indicated you’d be okay with someone following up about your ministry interest response, your information will be passed on!)
Next, suggestions for activities shared in the survey will be shared with appropriate ministry leaders for things that could get under way sooner rather than later.
Third, depending on how it is appropriate, the parish’s responses to questions asked may be used to guide our evaluation of candidates in the interview process.
Finally, once our new Rector arrives at the close of this process, we will share the full results of the survey with them. This will help them come in with some awareness of where we stand united and where divides may exist. From there, the Rector will do with that information what they choose. Names will not be included in what is sent to them.
We appreciate the feedback everyone has contributed to the survey - the positive and the negative. This is an important step for us in this new chapter of our history. As always, I remain available for questions and concerns about the process and will answer as we are permitted by the confidentiality that must be maintained.
We appreciate your continued prayers for this process.
