New Parking and Landscaping On the Way!

As we enjoy our newly painted and carpeted interior there are some exciting plans coming in early 2024 for the exterior of our building. Carl Maxwell, our architect for the parking addition where St. Elizabeth’s House once stood, reports the following:

He has partnered with Roger Kennedy, a landscape architect with Chapman Technical Group, to design the green spaces to be incorporated into the parking area. Green spaces that also serve as necessary storm water detention devices are called “rain gardens.” Local examples of such rain garden parking lots can be seen at Habitat for Humanity and Charleston Housing. The ramp in the parking lot needs to be upgraded to ADA standards and the dumpster area will be enclosed with a three-sided chain-link fence with privacy slats. What a difference it will make to have our tired old parking lot re-paved and adjacent to this new space!
