Meandering With The Interim: The Epiphany Season and God’s Grace

Grace

Jesus chooses to build his church upon Peter’s leadership, not because Peter was so strong, but because he was so weak. Peter’s brokenness became Jesus’ real breakthrough to him. It’s not that Peter was amazing; God’s grace was amazing. And so it is with us: God’s grace being made perfect in our weakness.”

-Br. Curtis Almquist, SSJE

It is the season of Epiphany, January 6 through February 13. We begin with the three kings arriving at the stable and end with our famous Pasta Shrove Tuesday Celebration! I choose the above quote because we often feel that the light will expose our weaknesses. That people will see us for who we really are and not what we want them to perceive. Look again at who God has chosen to proclaim his message. God did not choose Peter, Ruth, Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King, Jr. or you and I because we are perfect. God chose you and me because we can be made perfect in our weakness.
