Holy Week & Easter at St. John’s

Holy Week at St. John's Episcopal Church was a spiritually uplifting experience. The week featured several services leading up to the Easter Sunday celebration.

On Holy Wednesday, we held a Stations of the Cross service that invited us to walk with Jesus on his final journey to the cross. On Maundy Thursday, we gathered for a deeply moving service that included the washing of the feet and stripping of the altar. This service reminded us of Jesus' call to serve one another in humility and love. Two services were held on Good Friday.

On Holy Saturday, the Pastoral Care Team created Easter-themed goodie bags for the homebound members of our congregation, personally delivering them to brighten their day. Later that evening, the Great Vigil of Easter was held. This was the first time since Easter 2019 that St. John's celebrated the vigil, and it was made even more special by Bishop Matthew Cowden's presence as celebrant.

As Easter celebrations began, the children of our church excitedly hunted for Easter eggs. Later that morning, we came together for a Festive Eucharist service. Following the service, we gathered for a wonderful reception.

The blooming flowers and trees around St. John's were a fitting parallel to the resurrection of Jesus, adding to the beauty of the celebrations. We are grateful to all who participated in and contributed to our Holy Week services, and we look forward to continuing to worship together.
