St. Ambrose Choir

David Morton, director of music and choirmaster

The St. Ambrose Choir is known throughout the community for its musical excellence. In the past, the choir has sung at Washington National Cathedral; Christ Church, Alexandria, Va.; various Episcopal churches in the region; and at the Wheeling convent of the Sisters of St. Joseph. The choir hopes to continue to be able to take trips to sing for other churches.

The choir's annual fall Choral Evensong, followed by a scrumptious High Tea, has become a community institution and looked forward to by many from all faiths since the early 1970s.

The choir sings the finest traditional church music from all periods to the glory of God, with an emphasis on the choral literature sung by English and American cathedrals.

The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m., as well as Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Thursday rehearsals run from early September through late May.

If you are interested in singing in the St. Ambrose Choir, please contact the church office to set up a short audition with the choirmaster. A pleasing voice with the ability to read or sight read music is important, but even more important is the willingness to make the commitment of time.
